Summer Worship Schedule
Starting Sunday, June 27, and continuing through the remainder of the summer months, GFPC will begin its new summer worship schedule. All Sunday school classes will begin at 9 a.m. in Brock Fellowship Hall, and worship service will follow at 10 a.m. in our beautiful, historic church sanctuary located on Gunter Avenue. So mark your calendars with these time changes, and make worshipping at GFPC a part of your weekend on beautiful Lake Guntersville!
Worship service at GFPC is vibrant, lively, and Christ-centered. We aim for a delicate balance between “form” and “freedom” in our worship. We don’t want to be so structured that we are stuffy, nor do we want to be so loose that we have no order.
If you plan to visit our beautiful, historic church as part of North Alabama's Hallelujah Trail, expect to be greeted by a friendly church family eager to make you feel at home at GFPC. Parking is located in front, to the side, and in the rear of the church sanctuary. We have an outstanding choir, and our hymns can range from traditional Presbyterian to revivalist/evangelical.
All visitors are provided with a user-friendly worship bulletin that will help acclimate you to the ebb and flow of our service. If you’ve never worshiped in a Presbyterian church before, or in any church for that matter, don’t fret because you are among friends!
As for dress, we invite you to wear what you are most comfortable wearing. If you want to come “casual” or “dressy,” it doesn’t matter to us. You will find folks who do both at our church. Of utmost importance is that you come with a heart longing to worship God.
For more information, contact the church office. See you Sunday!
Sunday School GFPC offers Sunday school classes for all ages.
We have an adult class which meets in the downstairs wing of Brock Fellowship Hall, and they use the international Sunday school lessons for their curriculum. A new member class will begin July 11 which is a 5-week course. This class will be taught by Dr. Mel Strain, and all new members are invited to attend. We place a strong emphasis in all our adult classes on studying the Bible as our primary text.
We have several youth classes, and they all meet in the downstairs classrooms of Brock Fellowship Hall. For each of these classes we use a solid, Biblically-based, age-appropriate Sunday school curriculum.
Nursery In addition to the above youth classes, a church nursery is available for infants and younger children. The nursery is open during Sunday school and worship service and is located downstairs in Brock Fellowship Hall. The nursery is equipped with cribs, portable pack-n-plays, changing table, TV, DVD player, rocking chair, restroom, and lots of age-appropriate toys. The nursery is available for use during special church events, such as youth get-togethers, fellowship dinners and Vacation Bible School. It is convenient for mothers with young children, whether they are breastfeeding, rocking their infants to sleep, comforting a fussy little one, or providing an opportunity for their younger children to play together.
