VBS: God's Big Backyard! Vacation Bible School is June 9 thru 14. This year’s theme is God’s Big Backyard – where kids have a blast serving Jesus. In God’s Big Backyard, kids will participate in the large group excitement of Backyard Bash, experience God’s Word at Backyard Bible Club, meet real-life servants at Community Corner, plus explore and create through fun-filled crafts, food and games. Life Focus is to Serve Family, Serve Friends, Serve Neighbors, Serve Community and to Serve Jesus. Won't this be fun in our own big church backyard!
Our Bible Memory scripture is Mark 12:29-31 where Jesus said, "The first in importance is, 'Listen, Israel: The Lord your God is one; so love the Lord God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence and energy.' And here is the second: 'Love others as well as you love yourself.' There is no other commandment that ranks with these."
Get ready for an outdoor adventure that starts in your own backyard and gets bigger each day as kids take the love of Jesus into their neighborhoods and communities!!

Heifer International That's right, I said "Heifer!" Church youth will be collecting loose change once again to support Heifer International as a service projects. Heifer International is an awesome organization to “Help Hungry Families Feed Themselves.” Let's help put food into the mouths of hungry people, but also help families attain self-reliance by raising livestock to reproduce and feed villages for years to come. Last year our youth raised $300.00 and were able to purchase a llama, baby chicks, pig, rabbits and bees. We plan to raise at least $1,500.00 this time! You'll find piggy banks in all classrooms and at the backdoor of the church for collecting your loose change. Mary Lou will gladly accept donations both large and small as well!

GFPC Youth in Review Whether skiing the slopes in North Carolina, rafting the Ocoee, camping along the banks of the Hiawassee, or hiking Lake Guntersville's scenic trails, Mary Lou leads church youth of all ages through adventuresome experiences together. Her campfire cooking and outgoing personality make her an exciting Youth Minister for our church and its children of all ages. GFPC youth enjoy summers sure to include VBS, amusement park rides, boat house fun, and Camp Maranatha. Back to school activities are usually centered around the church fellowship hall, movie nights together, and Hallelujah Harvest. Santa never forgets to make a special stop to announce our littlest youth all made his "nice" list, and our award-winning float is a highlight of the city Christmas Parade. In the spring, the church Easter egg hunt unites young and old at a time when Spring Break sends us scattering on vacations and relaxing trips out of town. When all can exclaim that "school's out for summer," plans have been well underway for yet another awesome VBS. What does all of this camaraderie and fun spell out for our youth? They are brothers and sisters in Christ who are cherished by a close-knit church whose members raise them in faith. When each little one reaches for a hand, an older youth or adult is there to guide him or her on her way! Contact Mary Lou if you would like to assist with the education of our youth, lead youth activities, share a talent, cook a meal, volunteer your time, or simply be there for our children.
